Who We Are

Welcome to REALLIFE was created by Susan Silverman Quigley and Jackie Doherty, friends and parents, who have spent their careers educating people about financial matters.

Susan Silverman Quigley, a Certified Financial Planner, prides herself on the long-lasting relationships she has built with her her clients over the past 25 years. She educates clients about budging, debt management, and investing so that together they can develop a financial plan that helps clients reach their goals in life. Susan has also hosted many free educational seminars on a range of financial topics.

Susan has been recognized for her extensive community service. In 2020, she received the New York State Commendation Award for hosting a series of pro bono seminars about the financial resources available during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Her charitable works were recognized in 2015, when she was named a Nassau County Woman of Distinction. Susan is board member of the Financial Planning Association-Long Island and former chairperson of the Garden City Girl Scouts Association. Every year Susan organizes a winter clothing and toy drive for more than 125 children and their mothers.

​Jackie Doherty has written about the financial markets for the past 25 years. She's currently a contributing editor for Yardeni Research, a consulting firm that provides global investment strategy and asset allocation analysis and recommendations. Previously, she was a senior editor at Barron's, a business reporter for the New York Post, and her work has appeared in the Wall Street Journal and in local newspapers around the country.

Jackie is a board member of the Garden City Friends of Music and the Garden City Scholarship Fund. She is also the proud leader of a Girl Scout troop and received the Girl Scouts of Nassau County's Volunteer of Excellence award. Jackie graduated from Lehigh University.

This course was written in consultation with Dr. Mark Quigley, who has 20 years of teaching experience at the collegiate and high school levels. Dr. Quigley, who teaches social studies and economics at Garden City High School, has his Doctor of Education from St. John's University, a Master of Science from Stony Brook University, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Notre Dame.​
